We are so sorry for your loss. Bruce was a beautiful human. Generous, funny, and special. Dinner and red wine around your huge dining table with everyone including the pooches will continue to be a great memory. You both always generously invited and included, handed me a beer and cracked jokes and told funny stories. He will be sadly missed. With love Tracy and Glen from Australia

Bruce was married to my best friend and adopted sister Julie. We were each other’s maids of honor and they were our Texas family. We spent many hours and Thanksgivings at Doberman Rescue. Bruce was one of the most intelligent people I’ve known. He also had a fabulous sense of humor. We never expected Bruce to leave so soon. I feel so heartbroken that he was taken so young. Thank God Julie has a great support system in Ben, Geneve, Forest and the Doberman volunteer family. Julie is constantly on my mind.

We want to express our sincere condolences to Julie and family. We had no idea that when we brought our first transport at Margo’s request, the huge impact Bruce and Julie would make on our retired life. Instead of quietly being retired we have spent the last 5 years saving Dobermans. We are forever grateful you made us feel welcome. Bruce had a life well spent and not in vain now Rest In Peace you are forever missed.

It’s still so hard to believe that after 15 years of seeing Bruce’s smiling face and cheery welcoming “Hello!” when I walk thru the door will no longer be there. He was the best at welcoming everyone, cooking, great conversations and witty sarcasm. I’ll miss the talks, the back and forth banter and how emotional Bruce always got when dogs & matters of the heart were being discussed. Doberman’s in need have been so lucky to have Bruce advocate for them all these years, pouring his heart, soul and life into finding them forever homes. Things just won’t be the same without him.
Sending love & wishing for peace and comfort for Julie, Ben & all that loved Bruce dearly.

Julie, you and Bruce are two of the sweetest, kindest, and most generous people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. The times spent at your home and the rescue were among the happiest of my life. You and Bruce through your hard work and devotion have enriched the lives of so many people. Martha, Ryan, and I have been blessed beyond measure by each and every “best friend” that you placed in our home through adoption. Bruce was a special man and we grieve with you and Ben for your loss. I’m glad to know that you are surrounded by friends who love you, especially Trail Boss Forrest. Please know that we are praying for you Julie, Ben, and Bruce’s family, that you will be consoled and know peace.

Julie, My heart felt condolences, Bruce and I were class mates some 44 years ago, it feels like yesterday, I hope you take some solace in knowing that Bruce was special, I suspect you know that already, especially after 38 years, I know it would be hard for me to loose my partner of 38 years as well, please take care and accept our love and prayers.

We are so sad to hear this news. We met Bruce only once, when we adopted our Doberman, and his patience and calm amidst the commotion of having ten people wanting to meet and adopt a doberman, all at the same time, impressed us. We were able to get a feel for his nature by observing how much the scared, silly doberman that we adopted loved him. What he has done for so many discarded and hopeless Dobies is a testimony to his character. May he rest in peace, and may how he lived his life be credited to him.

Julie,
I am so sorry for your loss, and I hope Bruce had some comfort in his last days. He and I shared our Chem Eng studies at RMC, then saw a lot of each other after graduation, in Toronto where he worked for Imperial Oil (Exxon). With his move to Calgary, we saw much less of each other, but your name started to dominate our conversations. I am glad you and Bruce had so many good years together. While you have many people around you to comfort you, there is nothing better than a dog (2) to snuggle up to in your time of need.

Julie,
My heart goes out to you and your family. Bruce will always be in our hearts and so will you. Two amazing people that made the world a better place. You not only saved dobermans, you save people and you help others every chance you get. Every time I came to volunteer, you guys would invite us to stay and eat or hang out. Even on holidays you brought us together. If we had a problem, you helped us solve it. You and Bruce will always be family to myself and so many more. People like you two, live in our hearts for ever.
May your soul RIP Bruce Rogers

I was shocked and saddened today to learn through Facebook that Bruce had recently passed away. Bruce and I grew up together in the same neighborhood of Kingston, and I have many fond memories of him from those days, sailing on the St. Lawrence, canoeing on the Lakes north of Kingston, and generally enjoying the great outdoors. Bruce was an excellent small boat sailor, having taken several courses at the Royal Military College where his father taught, and he was absolutely fearless even in gale-force winds and whitecaps. I never had so much fun in a boat as when he took the tiller out on the river. Bruce was a good friend.
My sincere condolences to Gillian, Robin and Beverley (“Mrs. Rogers” as she was known to me in my youth), and to his Texas family.
