After battling Alzheimer’s for the last few years, Cora Lou (Corie) Ewing went to Heaven Friday April 8th.
Born and raised in Georgia, she was the consummate southern lady blessed with high intelligence, great humor, & lots of people to love. She would never go out without full makeup, hair done, & dressed “sharp’’ as our dad would say.
She chose to work as a manager at Centex until age 71, & then taught adult literacy for 10 years after retirement. She completed 12 years of Bible Study Fellowship, & raised all of us to know the Lord personally.
Always the quintessential matriarch, she didn’t hesitate being involved in all our lives and was quick to raise an eyebrow and tell us if something was out of line or if we were being “tacky.”
She adored her three girls and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Steve Fogle, Roxanne and Bill Cothern, and Heidi & David Sweet and was always proud of her six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Although it will be odd to continue life without Mom/Corie, we all rejoice that she is whole and happy and living her best life ever!

Beautifully written for a beautiful life and soul. I did not know her well, yet fet the love and joy upon the few times we were together and felt the same when family spoke so highly of her consistently. Heaven is rejoicing and I pray for family and friends comfort and peace. May we live out her legacy and remember how precious life is and live each moment as the gift it is. Love, Melinda

Aunt Corie will always hold a special place in my heart. I live close to McDonough Boulevard where she grew up in Atlanta and I often think of the stories that she and Uncle Bo shared with me of how they met. When Aunt Corie came to Atlanta many years ago to see her sister, my grandmother Mary Margaret one last time, their connection showed me what love and forgiveness looks like. “Love never fails.” May her love live on in all of our hearts.

Thank you a lot.

You are the best, Aut. She loved both of you so much!

Oh the memories of our fun times together. Our trip to Washington DC to visit our nations Capitol and monuments; our trip to Pa where we toured the Amish communities and our trip to New York City to see the Broadway shows and we had to call maintenance at the hotel to show us how to drain the bathtub (it was a button on the floor across the room from the tub). We laughed our selves to sleep that night and there was the trips to Branson and so many more. We shared our faith with each other and discussed the scriptures often. We prayed over our children together and shared so many secrets, both of us knowing they would never be repeated. God blessed me so abundantly to have such a friend as Corie. Every one should be so blessed! One day I will be met by Corie at heaven’s gate and she will welcome me. How I miss my friend. I do have precious memories. Jo Delle
