Curtis was born August 19, 1950 to the late Charles Raymond Dunn and Doris Francis Russell in Los Angeles, California. He attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University. He served as a Deacon at NW Evangelistic Center and Northwest Church. He also started 3 church sports groups; Softball League NW Evangelistic Center; Basketball League Faith Assemblies of God; and Volleyball League Faith Assemblies of God. He was a volunteer basketball coach at Bethesda. His career included working at Freeman’s piano service as a piano tuner/mover and Southwest Airlines as a reservation agent.
My fondest memory is Michelle, former sister in law, introduced me to Curtis. He came up from Houston and we went on a blind date. We went to church the next day where I sang in the choir and the choir members called me bouncer, which he got to see. He loved peanut butter cups and wanted to share them with everyone, but especially his grandkids whom he loved immensely. He loved Bethesda, the basketball team, all the players and everyone that went to the church. He never met a stranger anywhere. His greatest legacy was how much he loved the Lord. One of his favorite verses was Phillipians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”
Curtis is preceded in death by his parents; grandfather, John Thear Russell; grandmother, Vena Victory Watkins; grandfather, Charles Rule Dunn; grandmother, Mary Dunn; sister, Donna Querry; brother, Steven Dunn; niece, Casey Stephens; and granddaughter, Tori Bowden.

Holding you all up in prayer during this time, but also rejoicing for the knowledge that Curtis is where he was always headed anyway. It’s not goodbye, only so long for now, and we will meet again.

I’m so sorry to hear of Curtis passing- I am a cousin and remember him coming to my grandparents house when he was a little boy with Uncle Ther. RIP Curtis!
Debby Dunn
Curtis was truly a man of God & loved Him with all his heart! He loved me & I loved him & he loved his family & especially his grandchildren! The hardest thing for me to see was all of his health problems! Knowing he is no longer suffering is truly a blessing & he is free!
