Dewey “Helen” Westervelt

FORT WORTH — Dewey “Helen” Westervelt left this world peacefully and entered heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the age of 92.
Celebration of life: 2 p.m. Friday in Brown, Owens & Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel. Interment: Helen will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Cecil Westervelt Sr., in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Helen was born March 2, 1922, in Fort Worth to the late John Claude and Dewey Mae Barnard. Helen will be remembered for her love for Jesus, her church, music and her family. She leaves behind a loving family so very grateful for her caring and compassion towards everyone she came in contact with in her life. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Westervelt Sr.; a daughter, Lola Goss; and two sons, Claude Garrett Westervelt and Johnny Westervelt.
Survivors: Son, Cecil Westervelt Jr. and wife, Carolyn; daughter, Glenda Elliott and husband, Larry; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a number of great-great-grandchildren; and many friends.
