Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Gathings, a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away on November 30, 2021, at the age of 62.
Celebration of Life: 12:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at Lingleville Baptist Church. 21543 N. FM 219, Dublin, TX 76446
Liz was born in Fort Worth on September 5, 1959, to Dora and Philip Gathings III. She was one of six siblings, all raised in the Crowley area. She graduated from Crowley High school in 1978.
Family was everything to Liz, who loved nothing more than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Gatherings often centered around cooking and baking, a passion that she passed down and shared with her loved ones.
When she wasn’t doting over family or crafting with Gwen, you could often find Liz jotting down a recipe, watching a sermon online or studying scripture. Liz put her faith and trust in the Lord in 2002 and was baptized on August 8, 2004. She attended several churches when she was well enough to go, including Grandview Baptist Church. She also recently became a member of the online community of Lingleville Baptist Church.
Liz was a loving and faithful servant, helping anyone she could, however she could.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter Melissa (Ryan) Hurt; daughter Stephanie (Jose) Flores; son James (Kristen) Neal; granddaughter McKinley (Adrian) Briseno; grandchildren Kacee Flores, Andrew Flores, Erin Flores, Kyndall Hurt, Brody Hurt, Garrett Hurt; great-grandchildren Aaron Briseno and Logan Briseno; sister Emma Gibson; brothers William (Shawna) Gathings, Bobby (Darlene) Gathings, Phil Gathings, Pete Diaz, and best friend, Gwen Wheeler.
