Fort Worth: Gary Lee Potter
Gary is survived by his wife of 15 years, Carolyn, three sons: Donovan, Dalton, Christopher, and a daughter; Tracey. Gary was the youngest of 4 children of Hubert and Leola Potter. He was born October 8, 1950 in Waterloo, Iowa. Gary lost his battle with adrenal cancer at home with his wife the morning of December 16th.
Gary is survived by his sister Janet and oldest brother Darrell and preceded in death by another brother, Jerry.
There will be celebration of life at a time and place to be determined later when it is safer to gather.
Gary was always an entrepreneur. He started restoring thrown out bicycles when he was 12 and selling them to make some money. At 14 he bought his first car! His dad helped him fix it up and the buying and selling of cars was born! Gary worked in the paint and body business and eventually opened his own shop specializing in Corvettes. Gary’s restoration, flawless work with fiberglass along with paint and body brought him hundreds of clients; many looking for show car quality. Gary was a member of Cowtown Corvettes and Lone Star Corvettes, Trail Blazer SS Club, and attended many Shelby Mustang events. He was known as the go to guy on the Corvette Forum on the internet. The hundreds of cars he restored, owned, and sold is more than most people ever dream of owning, from Rolls Royce, Corvettes, Porches, Shelbys and his prized 1970 Chevelle Super Sport 454 LS6 which was sadly destroyed in a very serious accident in 2018.
Gary’s love of corvettes and fast powerful muscle cars is where he met his wife Carolyn. At a low-speed corvette autocross event, he was shocked that a woman could come within seconds of his time. Of course, he had to tell her how “filthy” her 3-month-old new car was. And the story began.
Gary and his wife also shared a love of motorcycles, owning a few Harleys from time to time. The feeling of freedom riding alone through the beautiful countryside all while being with someone you loved or a group of buddies which provided a time to reflect and clear your thoughts is what drew them to motorcycles.
Gary had several very special places in his heart, but West Palm Beach was his true happy place. In Oct of 2015, Gary took his wife on a memorable trip back to West Palm Beach, Florida. Gary was able to travel with his wife to Scotland and England which remained on his list of special places.

Deepest sympathy to Carolyn and family. Gary was definitely a one of a kind and he could be a whole lot of fun. His cool head eased the tension the night that Pappadeux had no baked potatoes. But recently, on the night that we all went to look at Christmas lights (just under 2 weeks before he passed), it was easy to see that the cancer was taking a huge toll on him. Although he will be missed by many people, at least he no longer suffers from the big C, and he is able to ride in the clouds.

Gary was a good friend and someone I enjoyed a lot of great times with. Always had a great sense of humor and willingness to tell a story or joke.
He was there for me when I was going through a difficult time and he will always hold a place in my heart. Rest in peace brother!

I never knew Gary, but based on his story, his interests and his business mindset, I’m sure we would have gotten along great. I work with Carolyn and she’s amazing, I’m sure Carolyn and Gary together were some of the best people you could be around.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Carolyn and the family and I hope you all heal soon.

Oru deepest condolences to Carolyn and family.
Gary was a good person. I sat for years with him and Carolyn watching the boys at Tae Kwon Do.

Oh Carolyn , I was so, so sad to read your message. Thank you for letting me know. Of all of the people I know, you were always there with a comforting smile and the right words of encouragement to help anyone feeling discouraged.
You were the person who inspired me to be better. To me Carolyn, you were the standard of excellent.
How about I bring over a good dinner one evening soon, nobody feels like cooking at these times, and I could use the company of someone who has meant so much to me for so many years.
You and family are in our prayers
