Jay Ranton went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2022. He was born to Earl and Gloria Ranton on July 20, 1971 in Ontario, Canada, where he grew up with his two older sisters Linda and Laurie. Jay moved to the United States to attend Bible School at Heritage of Faith in Texas, where he met his wife, Valerie Guthrie, whom he soon married on September 17, 1995. They began their lives together serving God and other ministries, including Jerry Savelle Ministries and Kenneth Copeland Ministries. Jay had a heart for missions since a child and began doing mission trips and led trips to Africa, South America, Central America and Asia. God called Jay and Valerie to move to Guatemala in 2008 where they started serving House of Destiny orphanage and quickly became the new directors. They recently opened a second home for children. Jay dedicated the rest of his life to the care of many precious children in Guatemala who call him Papi. Jay’s legacy lives on and continues to bear much fruit in his family and in the many children he has taken in his home to care for and call his own. Jay touched many lives with his love, humor, and joy for life. He is survived by his wife Valerie Ranton and his children Kendrik, Dilan, Monica, Darlin, Eswin and Iris, his parents Earl and Gloria Ranton, his sisters Linda Buschen (Tom), Laurie Lipscomb (Corey), nieces Jenna and Brianna Buschen, nephews James and Jake Lipscomb, great nieces Zhara and Starlit Mehan. A memorial for Jay will be held in Guatemala at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Jay’s memory to the ministry he founded, Going Into All the World Ministries at www.GIATW.org.

Oh my goodness I always smile just thinking of Jay. Jim and I always had so much fun laughing with him,Corey, and Chad back in the apartment complex where we lived while we were in Bible school. So many memories…I’m so thankful to have known him here on Earth…and to see he and Val meet! What a beautiful life and family they made here. Praying for you, Val, and your sweet family. I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m very thankful he is in Heaven—completely healed and whole.
Much love,
Angie and Jim Cumbee

Jay Ranton indeed left quite a legacy and ran the good race down here in Guatemala. Being a Papi to orphans – that is Jesus at work! May the Lord bring comfort and peace to Valerie and the family.

My good friend, I will miss you greatly. I have so many memories with you that I treasure. Your humor, faith, and love of God and others always encouraged me. You have finished your race and delight in the Glory of God now. Until we meet again Jay, love you brother.

I met Jay when our Church went to House of Destiny summer 2019. He was one of the kindest, funniest, and warm hearted people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. His love for his children showed in every smile he flashed. He showed me pictures of children that had left the home and pictures of the ones that are there, and the love and pride he had was of a proud Papi. Jay was a great blessing to House of Destiny, but House of Destiny blessed Jay just as much. Val and Jay are perfect together and the children of House of Destiny are all blessed because of them. Jay, you will be missed. Rest in peace sweet man.

The first week I began working at KCM Jay West backed up a van into the DC bay. Jay, Jay Ranton & Dan Hooley began unloading – tossing shopping bags into a huge pyramid-like pile. Each bag contained a new coat & pair of shoes for needy children. Jay Ranton processed the shipping of those bags with a happy grin on his brilliant face.
That was a great day! I realized I was a part of something big & good.
I’m extremely glad Jay got to experience fatherhood with so many adorable young ones. You two are truly a part of something huge, making an enormous impact in history. Carry on.
Way to go, Valerie! What a great spouse, what a great team, achieving every dream & fulfilling what God has called you to do. Carry on.
It’ll be another great day when we get yo see Jay.
We love you all!

Although, I did not have the opportunity to know cousin Jay very well, I remember he was a passionate man for God. A inspiration to bring the gospel and help those in need in Canada and afar. You will be missed.

I met Jay in high school and we were football teammates. Jay was always the funniest guy at every party. We spent plenty of nights talking about life and I saw him last a few years ago when he dropped by my trailer a few years ago when he came back to Canada to see his parents. He was able to meet my youngest daughter and he showed me plenty of photos of his kids. We spent hours talking about his family and the work he was doing. I was so impressed that he had worked so hard helping kids. My condolences to Valerie and his children. I remember when he told me that he found his soulmate and was getting married. He was truly happy to start his family with you. I haven’t seen him in a few years but I am saddened by his passing and will miss him. My heart also goes out to his parents and sisters sorry for your loss.
