Victoria Lee Love

BENBROOK — Victoria Lee Love, 77, passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at her home.
Memorial service: The family service will be private.
Victoria, or Vicky as she was known to friends and family, was born November 21, 1937, in Jacksonville, Alabama, to Nathalee Fai Ewing Love and Pink Victor Love. The family moved to Gadsden, Alabama, where her sister Nancy and brother Pinckney were born. Vicky attended Gadsden city schools, graduating from Emma Sansom High School in 1956. She graduated in August 1960, from Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham, Alabama, with a bachelor of science in pharmacy. Her entire work life was as a hospital pharmacist, beginning at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Gadsden. After her move to Fort Worth in the mid-1960s, she worked at several Fort Worth hospitals, retiring after 25 years of service.
Vicky was devoted to the activities of support for victims of Alzheimer’s disease, the disease which took her mother away. Vicky was the caretaker for her mother for five years or so, and during that time she joined an Alzheimer’s caretakers’ support group which meets at First United Methodist Church, Fort Worth, keeping attendance records and making peach cobblers for monthly parties, among other duties. During her time in this group, Vicky found support and friendship which helped her enormously. Her wish would be that anyone serving as a caretaker for a person with Alzheimer’s disease participate in this kind of support program.
Following her wishes, Vicky’s ashes will be distributed in a garden, as she said, “to help some flowers grow.”
Vicky was preceded in death by her parents; and her only brother, Pinckney Victor Love Jr.
Survivors: Sister, Nancy Kate Love of Staunton, Virginia; beloved aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Lester Reeves of Bay Point, Florida; niece and nephews, Melissa Thurston of Ellabell, Georgia, Pinckney Victor Love III of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Tyler Love of North Augusta, South Carolina.
