Alan Paul Montanus
January 6, 1972 – March 17, 2025
Alan Paul Montanus of Weatherford, Texas, roared off into the great beyond on March 17, 2025, undoubtedly with a wrench in one hand and a sarcastic comment in the other. Born on January 6, 1972, in Stuttgart, Germany (which he proudly reminded everyone gave him “import status”), Alan lived a life full of adventure, grit, and grease-stained jeans.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Alan served his country with the same no-nonsense, get-it-done attitude he later brought to his career as a truck driver. He loved the open road, classic rock blasting from the speakers, and the freedom to yell at other drivers without consequence.
When he wasn’t hauling freight across the country, Alan could be found elbows-deep in his front yard, tinkering with something that definitely didn’t need fixing—but he fixed it anyway. Cars, motorcycles, lawnmowers, microwaves—if it had parts, Alan had a plan. He never met a vehicle he didn’t think he could revive, or a project he couldn’t start (finishing was another story). His to-do list was a work of art: scribbled on napkins, receipts, or sometimes just remembered through sheer stubbornness.
Alan had a quick wit, a big laugh, and an uncanny ability to tell a story that may or may not have been 100% true—but was always 100% entertaining. He had a heart as big as his toolbox and a knack for making people feel welcome, even if he greeted you with a sarcastic jab instead of a hug.
He leaves behind friends, family, fellow gearheads, and a garage full of “almost finished” projects. In his honor, feel free to turn a wrench, play some AC/DC too loud, or finally start that thing you’ve been putting off.
Alan, you were one of a kind—and probably still fixing things on the other side.
