KELLER — Allen Ernest Dumas of Keller passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at the age of 82.
Graveside service: 10 a.m. Tuesday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville.
Allen was raised in Fort Worth and was a graduate of Fort Worth Technical High School in 1951. He received a degree in mathematics (minor in physics and German) from the University of North Texas. He was a B36 tail gunner in the Korean War. Allen married Ann Patricia Latham, and the two moved to Keller in 1967 where he worked for the FAA. Allen and Ann were one of six families that started St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Southlake.
Allen was also a driving force behind the development of the city of Keller. Allen was on the Keller City Council in the late ’60s and early ’70s. As part of the council, he helped start the police department, hire the first chief of police, develop the first master plan, and create the annexations that nearly tripled the size of Keller. Without Allen’s commitment and involvement, Keller could not have become the city it is today.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann.
Survivors: Daughter, Michelle Burke of Colleyville; son, Stephen and wife, Laura, of Dallas; son, Mark and wife, Bonnie, of Southlake; grandchildren, Courtney, Zane, Rex, Ashley, Emily, Alyssa and Ella.
