BEDFORD — Beulah Casto Sprague, 89, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014.
Burial: Beulah will be laid to rest in Columbus, Ohio.
Beulah was born Feb. 26, 1925, in Columbus, Ohio. She lived a quiet life and suffered from asthma. She had a love for reading and crocheting during her early years. After graduation from high school, Beulah went to work as a quality tester for Keever Starch Manufacturing and later worked for Lazarus Department Store in Columbus.
In July 1948, Beulah met the love of her life, John E. Sprague, and he was a fun-loving and adventurous person. She described their times together as “the most fun I ever had in my life.” Johnny and Beulah had no children so she would accompany him on trips in an 18-wheeler with their pet Chihuahua, Peanut. Beulah eventually learned to drive the truck so she could relieve her husband as they traveled on crosscountry trips. Beulah continued to live in their home in Bedford after her husband passed April 1973. Her health began to decline and she moved into assisted living and later to a nursing home until her death.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, Augustus and Magdalena Casto, and her husband, John E. Sprague.
Beulah would have wanted to thank Guardianship Services Inc. of Fort Worth who oversaw her care from 2003 until the time of her death. Heartfelt gratitude is also expressed to the staff at La Dora Nursing Center in Bedford for their loving care during the last years of her life.
