Fort Worth – Billye Harrison Billman passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the age of 94.
Celebration of Life: 1:30 pm, Friday, July 6, at Brown Owens & Brumley Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Phyllis Barren officiating. Visitation 5 to 7pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment: Billye will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Paul, at Greenwood Mausoleum.
Billye was born on February 17, 1924 to the late Thurston & Madge Harrison in Wapanucka, OK. She graduated from Wapanucka High School. During World War II she worked for Western Union. At its conclusion, she moved to Fort Worth. She met her future husband Paul through one of her friends at work, Jerri, Paul’s older sister. They were married on November 29, 1949 at First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. Billye and Paul raised two sons, Hank and Clay. When the boys were older, Billye took a job with General Dynamics where she worked for over 20 years.
Billye had an easy smile and a good sense of humor. She loved a good joke. She never met a stranger and treated everyone like a long lost friend. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed hosting family and friends on numerous occasions. Billye and Paul were avid card players, playing bridge several times a week. In their later years, they traveled around the United States, Europe & Africa.
Billye was a member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Woman’s Club and Ladies of El Texa Grotto.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Lakewood Village Senior Living Community and Christian Care Hospice for their wonderful care and attention.
Billye is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years, Paul, and her younger sister Patsy Harrison Finkboner.
Survivors: Sons Paul H. (Hank) Billman III and wife, Linda of Fort Worth; Clay Harrison Billman and wife, Carolyn of Keller; grandson, Blake Billman and wife, Melissa; granddaughter, Lindsey Billman; grandson, Austin Billman; great-grandson, Parker Billman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
