Bobby Clayton, Sr.

NEWARK-Bobby Clayton, Sr. peacefully went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2020 at the age of 69.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Brown, Owens, and Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel.
Bobby retired from Oncor after 43 years and enjoyed 7 years of retirement before he passed away. Bobby and Carol loved to travel. They had an RV in Ruidoso, New Mexico and would spend about 6 months out of the year in New Mexico with their RV buddies. When they weren’t in New Mexico they were spending time with their grandchildren. Bobby was just one of the kids when he played with his grandchildren. He was a fun Paw Paw (aka “Caw Caw”) that would tickle and tease and even get down on the floor and build a train track. He taught them a lot of games like playing football with a napkin at the dinner table and blowing straw wrappers across the table. They learned thumb wars and slap games and have so many great memories of playing with their Paw Paw. Bobby will be remembered as a man of God who loved his family and his friends. Bobby was fun loving and always had an optimistic outlook on life. Bobby had a year and half long battle with multiple myeloma cancer. He had a positive attitude throughout all of the chemo treatments, transplant/transfusion and the many, many doctor visits. After Bobby’s death, his oncologist contacted Bobby’s spouse, Carol, to give her his condolences and tell her that Bobby was the ideal patient. He said, “Bobby always had a smile on his face and always had a joke to tell. His positive attitude and optimistic outlook is what I wish all of my patients had. He will be missed.” Bobby made an impact on every person he met. His laugh was contagious and he found a way to make a joke out of every situation. Bobby was a lifelong prankster; he even played a prank on his daughters during his final stay in the hospital. Bobby’s family have peace about his death because Bobby had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior many years ago and they know he is now in heaven. Bobby didn’t want a traditional funeral service, he wanted his family to celebrate his life and to celebrate knowing that he is in a better place and that they will see him again one day.
SURVIVORS-Wife of 43 years, Carol Clayton and their three children and spouses and grandchildren: Bobby Clayton Jr and Amanda Clayton and their children, Ryan Clayton and Tyler Clayton; Becky Wittmaak and John Wittmaak Jr and their children, Jack Wittmaak and Eli Wittmaak; Beth Roan and James Roan and their child, Caleb Roan; and his three nephews Toby and Michelle Blakley; Pastor Josh and Miranda Blakley; and Brady Blakley.
