Carter James Escobar

FORT WORTH-Carter James Escobar, 9, died peacefully at home on Friday, May 8, after a nearly-two-year battle with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma.
Memorial service: A private service will be held Saturday, May 23, at Normandale Baptist Church.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cook Children’s Health Foundation or Lighthouse Family Retreat in Carter’s name.
Carter was born Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in Fresno, California, son of Juan and Rachel Escobar.
Carter was a fourth grade student at Blue Haze Elementary. He was a joyful boy who loved playing Fortnite with his friends, and making people laugh. Throughout his brave battle with cancer, he showed true courage and perseverance. He has touched so many lives with his infectious smile and unending strength, and you could always count on him sharing his favorite treats with his visitors. Carter loved Jesus and gave his life to Christ and was baptized on his eighth birthday. He wanted to be a police officer when he grew up and on February 20, 2020, he was sworn in as an honorary Fort Worth police officer.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Amy Carter as well as his grandfather Donald Demery.
Survivors: He is survived by his parents, Juan and Rachel Escobar; sister, Peyton Escobar; grandfather, Edward Carter; grandmother, Theresa Demery; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
