Charlene Elizabeth Stroud

FORT WORTH-Charlene Elizabeth Stroud went home to meet her Soulmate of 66 years, Robert (Bob) A. Stroud on December 12, 2020 just in time to celebrate Christmas and his birthday which also falls on the same day.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: Because of Covid-19, Charlene’s Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Her Facebook page will be set up as a memorialized page in the near future where photos and stories can be shared and updates posted.

Although her journey was unexpected and we are heartbroken, we can find peace knowing that the reunion was full of laughter, dancing & joy. One of her favorite singers, Charlie Pride, also died the same night in Texas. I’m sure he escorted her to the heavenly gates reuniting her with the love of her life singing “Kiss an angel good morning” while they danced and danced.
Charlene was born to parents, Leonard Emmitt and Minnie Elizabeth Davenport on January 25, 1936 in El Paso, Texas. She spent the majority of her life in New Mexico and Arizona then moved to Weatherford, Texas in 2018 where she has lived a full, healthy and happy life surrounded by a loving family. Charlene spent her childhood in various El Paso Natural Gas Stations (EPNG) in Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. She met Robert A. Stroud in 1950 while watching him work cattle on a ranch in Deming, New Mexico and they were married a year late on September 22, 1951. He followed in the footsteps of his father-in-law and worked for EPNG for 41 years. They enjoyed this EPNG camp life to its fullest; raising their 3 children, Country & Western dancing, watching Dallas Cowboys games, boating, Ruidoso horse racing, and most of all spending time with family & friends. Charlene loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren equally. They brought her so much joy and happiness. Even though she had lost her forever love almost three years ago, she continued to live a full, happy and healthy life in Texas up to her final days when she was taken by a massive stroke. Covid-19 ruined a lot of her plans this past year, but she still found joy being surrounded by what she called, her “staff”. She loved doing chair yoga & weights, zooming to keep up with all the family, spending a lot of screen time on Facebook & cooking her famous enchiladas (w/an egg on top) chili rellenos & banana nut bread. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) & Daughters of The Republic of Texas (DRT) and was enjoying going to the monthly meetings here in Weatherford, Texas.
SURVIVORS: Left behind to carry on her legacy of love & joy; her children, Sharmane E. Riemer, Robert “Butch” A. Stroud (Jeannie) and Sherry L. Taylor (Chip); her grandchildren, La Dawn Whitmire, Shawna Lavender, Brandy Trussell, Tonya Sornson, Tracy Lawton, Rob Stroud and Dustin Campbell; and her 10 beautiful great grandchildren.
