Clair Frederick Strickler, Jr., 89, of Fort Worth, went home to be with our Lord on June 13, 2024. Born on February 3, 1935, in Watsontown, PA to Clair Sr. and Arabella Strickler. Fred lived a full and enriching life marked by service, dedication, and a passion for learning and sports. Fred proudly served his country for 14 years in the United States Air Force, where he was known for his unwavering commitment and remarkable leadership. His service took him across the globe, where he made lifelong friends and collected stories that he loved to share with his family and friends.
Beyond his military career, Fred was a man of exceptional intelligence and curiosity, owning his own business, as well as teaching in high school. He was an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver, always eager to delve into new subjects and expand his knowledge.
Fred was also a passionate sports enthusiast. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions. His competitive spirit and love for sportsmanship were contagious, inspiring those around him to engage and enjoy the games just as much as he did.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Clair Sr. and Arabella Strickler, his brothers, Robert Strickler, Jacque Strickler and Jared Strickler, and his granddaughter, Tiffany Lowe.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley, his 9 children, Sheri Ross, Denise Saulnier, Frederick "Buddy" Strickler, Patrick Strickler, Karen Lockhart, Thomas Strickler, Julia Gil, Mark Strickler, and Trina Wood, his 26 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Fred will be remembered not only for his service to his country but also for his sharp mind, his dedication to sports, and his love, kindness, and generosity.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, at Brown Owens & Brumley Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 425 S. Henderson St., Fort Worth, TX.
Burial service will follow at 2:00 pm at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
