BURLESON-Cruz G. Hernandez passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the age of 79.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
VISITATION: 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the funeral home.
Cruz was born Sunday, May 3, 1942 in San Benito, Texas to the late Benito and Conception Hernandez. He attended school and graduated from San Benito High School. He attended Tarrant County Jr. College and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice and Marketing. Cruz started working as a young boy in his home town and retired from Tarrant County as the district clerks records manager. He then taught at Cleburne High School for six years. Cruz proudly served his country by enlisting in the US Army. He was extremely proud and honored to serve his country and wanted to leave this place better than before. His passion in life centered around gardening. He could grow anything and everything he planted. He also was very involved in political affairs and was elected three times as a presidential elector. Most of all, Cruz loved his family and tried to live his life to be an influence to them. He was a loving husband to Martha for 57 wonderful years, loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.
Cruz is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Martha Hernandez; daughter, Cynthia Winnett and husband, Tim; daughter, Deanna Walker and husband, Kevin; son, Daniel Hernandez and wife, Paige; brother, Jessie Hernandez; granddaughter, Ashley Hernandez Felix and husband, Jimmy; granddaughter, Lauren Winnett; grandson, Jessie Walker; and very special adopted granddaughter, Aisha Carlton.
