Daisy Mae “Gran” Jackson, 73, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013. Celebration of life: 10 a.m. Monday in Brown, Owens & Brumley Funeral Directors’ Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Texas Peace Officers Memorial Fund, Fort Worth; Arlington Safe Haven; or Bobina Renee Jackson-Begley Scholarship Fund at Tarrant County College.
Daisy Mae was born Jan. 25, 1940, in Indiana to the late Robert C. and Julia E. Leonard. She was known as “Gran” to many who knew and loved her. She had a beautiful, eclectic collection of her passions in dolls and antique artifacts. As a former police officer and 30 years as a 911 emergency dispatch supervisor, her independent and strong-willed approach to life brought her to her beloved husband. A focus on family and a passion for Christmas were her hallmarks. After retiring she spent time getting her hair and nails done and babying Henry, her blond Golden Retriever. She was a true and trusted friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her big family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Bobina Renee Jackson-Begley; sister, Betty Woe; and brother, Jerry Doran. Survivors: Husband, Malcolm Jackson; son, Allen W. Neathery and wife, Lynda Marie; son, James C. Neathery and wife, Jana; daughter, Julee Neathery; daughter, Beth Cox and husband, Dan; daughter, Tammy Hite; brother, Tom Leonard and wife, Glenda; sister, Barbara Singleton; sister, Joyce Swain and husband, Ken; grandchildren, Chris and wife, Cynthia, Ryan, Jake, Eli’Sha, Dustin, Riley, Joshua, Brooke, Desarae, Jake, Devin; and great-grandchild, Lillien.
