Dean Collier Oberst (1954 – 2014)

Dean Collier Oberst, 59, passed away quietly and was found Thursday, March 20, 2014. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in Brown, Owens & Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel. Dean was born July 7, 1954, to the late Tom C. and Jeanne H. Oberst in Greenwood, Miss. He lived in many cities across the United States and Europe during his father’s Army career. After finishing high school in Killeen, he attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where he graduated in 1992. He, his wife and their children lived in Copperas Cove until the family moved to Fort Worth, where he remained. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Tom C. and Jeanne H. Oberst; and brothers, Tom C. Oberst III and Robert C. Oberst. Survivors: Daughters, Mrs. Kana Keisel of Burleson, Ms. Amelia Billings of Crowley and Miss Heather Oberst of Fort Worth; mother of his children, Lydia Wise; four grandchildren; sister, Dr. Anne Schanz of Dallas; and many friends.
