FORT WORTH-Emmett Buckles passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the age of 91.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Brown Owens & Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel.
VISITATION: 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday (2 hours prior to service time) at the funeral home.
Emmett was born Sunday, February 16, 1930 in Tchula, Mississippi to the late Joseph and Drewcillie Johnson Buckles. He attended Tchula Mississippi Public Schools. He retired from Browning Ferris Industries in Chicago, Illinois after 30 years of dedicated service. He also retired from Manheim Auto Auction after 15 years of service in Bedford, Texas after relocating from Illinois to Texas. Emmett loved watching westerns, telling stories about his childhood memories like where he was raised and all about his upbringing. Emmett took so much pride to have a beautiful yard and very exquisite flower beds. His passion was gardening, fishing and cooking food. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend and will be deeply missed.
Emmett is preceded in death by his parents; son, Willie Perry; son, Arthur Adams; brother, Samuel Johnson; sisters, Ola Mae Jones, Geraldine Bennett and Vera Mae Tidwell.
SURVIVORS: Loving wife of 50 years, Geraldine Buckles; children, Gail Norman and husband, John, Karen Mitchell, Gary Buckles and wife, Felicia, Shelley Soto and husband, Frank, Wendy Rogan and husband, Andrew, Bryan Buckles and wife, Jane, Vincent Buckles, Mary Buckles Smith and husband, Kevin, Anita Garland and Carl Perry; brothers, Louis Johnson and wife, Leora, and Walter Johnson; sister, AryLee Kelly; 29 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends.
