Emory Augustus Farris III

October 22, 1960 — October 3, 2023

Emory Augustus Farris, III, 62, died at home on October 3, 2023, after a final battle with illness. He was born October 22, 1960 in Wichita, KS to Queen Farris Montgomery and Emory Farris, II. He was part of a large, loving, and close-knit family. As the oldest grandson of Edgar and Viviann Harris, Emory felt it his responsibility to protect his younger cousins, and he did so fiercely. That same duty to protect continued throughout his life, and whether you were family, loved one, or friend, he was there whenever needed.

From a very early age, Emory developed a passion for cars. He spent most of his time working in his Grandfather’s auto shop. From standing on crates to pass his grandfather a tool, to rebuilding motors, and transmissions, and fixing anything wrong with a vehicle, His love of cars continued throughout his lifetime, and he loved working in the shop with his brothers and friends. One of his favorite pastimes was going to the races and watching the cars run the track.

Emory’s second passion was painting, he was a Master Painter. This passion allowed him to repair and paint cars which led him to his career with Lockheed Martin as a Master Painter, and finally a Master Final Coater. His career with Lockheed Martin spanned a total of 34 years, and he was one of a small group of people who could work on every part of the plane. Every F-35 fighter jet with the exception of the first 15 and any after July 2023, has Emory’s name assigned to it. This was something that he was proud of and took great care and responsibility for his work, always concerned for the pilot who would eventually be in the cockpit.

While Emory did not have any biological children, he was a bonus father to Katheryn’s four children, and Paw Paw to 10 grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly, and who loved him. He was never too busy to share his wisdom, knowledge, and life experiences. Nor was he ever not available to offer support and protection for their benefit.

Emory Augustus Farris, III leaves to cherish his memory his partner, Katheryn Fox of Ft. Worth, TX, bonus children, KeVanna Fox (Ivan), Pensacola, FL, Jordan Owens (Donald), Chicago, IL, Daryl Fox, Jr., and Terrance Fox, Pensacola, FL, 10 grandchildren, Kennedy, Kristyn, Charles Emory, Katheryn, Donald III, Angel, Ida, Brianna, Havana and Jayden. His brother Tashii Farris and his sister, Miiko Farris, both from California. His Aunts, Lillie Littleton, College Park, GA, Caroline Hare, Wichita, KS, and an extensive host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, and his beloved dog Gigi.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Queen Montgomery, stepfather Ralph Montgomery, and his father Emory Farris, II.

Emory was loving, caring, protective, supportive, honest, sometimes brutally so, and loyal. He never met a stranger. Anyone who spent enough time with him would tell you that knowing him forever impacted their lives. He was a great man who will be missed.
