Ethel was born July 7, 1922 to the late William and Elise Dreher Stein in New York, New York. After graduating high school, she attended secretarial school. She married Walter H. Binger after WWII in New York on September 5, 1949. In 1968, Ethel and Walter moved to Lubbock, Texas where they established themselves becoming Lubbockites and Tech fans. Ethel began working as a bookkeeper at Lena Stephens Department Store on Indiana and 34th Street in 1969 until the store closed. Walter passed away in April of 1998 and Ethel continued to live in Lubbock until moving to the DFW area in 2008 to be closer to family.
Ethel was an avid Yankee fan and could talk sports with the best of them. She also loved to send cards and gifts to celebrate her family and friends, cards meant so much to her. She was a kind, quiet appreciative person who truly appreciated all the wonderful caregivers the last 5 years where she resided in a nursing facility. A special thanks to nursing home staff, hospice, social workers all are true Heroes who deserve so much recognition. Bertha holds a special place in Ethels’ heart!
Survivors: Niece, Carole; niece, Linda; and favorites, Caroline and Mike.
