Eura (eera) Jeanette Franklin 92 of Azle, Texas passed away on June 17, 2024, one day shy of her 93rd birthday. She was known as Eura to her kin folks in Alabama and Georgia, and Janet to her Texas friends and family. Eura was born on June 18, 1931, in Helfin, Alabama. Eura was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Ligon, children; James Cole, June Rosen, Robert 'Eddie' Cole and wife Jennifer Cole and Anthony Cole and wife Mary Cole, 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Eura was proceeded in death by her parents William and Belma East, sisters Maggie East, Helen Thompson and Bobby Ligon, first husband Calvin Cole and second husband Fulton 'Frank' Franklin and children, Paul "Donnie" Cole and Shirley Hunter.

Eura was born and raised in the Helfin, Alabama area. By her own writings she said “My father was a sharecropper farmer. We lived in a house paid no monthly rent. When the cotton and the corn were ready for harvest we shared the crop with the owner. We lived in a house with no electricity or indoor bathroom. We cooked on a stove you put wood in. We bathed in a #4 wash tub using the same water. Drew water out of a well. My mother washed clothes by putting them in a big black pot that had a fire underneath it. Took them out and rinsed them in tubs filled with water them hung them out to dry”

She moved around the country with her first marriage and ended up settling in Fort Worth, Texas where she raised her 5 kids as a single parent. She remarried and moved to Azle, Texas where she was a beloved member of Eagle Mountain Baptist Church.

She loved reading, word search books, gardening and going to church on Sunday.

She loved her Sunday school friends and her church family. She loved Babes Chicken, watching Wheel of Fortune, 90 Day Fiancée, and Naked and Afraid. She always had some funny comments about them crazy people. She loved to travel, especially back home to see her kin folk. She loved country music, especially Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn. But most of all she loved being with her family and friends, just being together laughing and telling stories.

Her warm and caring nature touched the lives of all those around her, making her a cherished member of her community. She was never too shy or afraid to talk to a stranger or buy a homeless person a sausage biscuit and tell them 'God loved them'.
