Fred “Gene” Deaver

FORT WORTH — Fred “Gene” Deaver passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at the age of 86.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Thursday at Brown Owens & Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel with Masonic services to follow.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Gene’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10001.
Gene was born Jan. 18, 1927, to the late William Louis and Nellie Deaver in Bowie. Gene proudly served our country by enlisting in the U.S. Army where he fought in World War II. Gene was a member of Arlington Heights Lodge #1184 for many years and was also a part of the Masonic mounted unit division and was past master from 1979 to 1980. Gene retired from Texas Electric Service Co. after many dedicated years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to ride horses and loved boating, fishing and country western dancing.
Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Deaver who passed away in 2001.
Survivors: Daughter, Faye Stewart and husband, Leon; son, Fred Deaver Jr. and wife, Connie; grandson, Joe Ivy and wife, Leah; granddaughter, Mindy Simmons and husband, Schane; grandson, Trey Deaver and fiancee, Sara; granddaughter, Rhiannon Deaver; great-grandchildren, Taylor Ivy and William Deaver; sister, Carol Unger; and very special friend of 10 years, Pat Andrews.
