Hattie Elane Smith Lewis

Hattie Elane Smith Lewis, age 68, was called home by her Lord and savior for the best Sunday service she could ever attend on July 14, 2024, at 10:37AM.

 Hattie would begin working at Dannon Yogurt and was a committed employee there for over 24 years. After leaving Dannon, she also left the workforce for a few years. Once she returned, Hattie dedicated herself to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission for an additional 12 years before she finally retired. Outside of working, Hattie’s true passion was mentorship and writing. She mentored anywhere an opportunity presented itself. Hattie would volunteer at schools, churches, juvenile facilities, and prisons to share her story. For a brief time, she volunteered as a child advocate for abused and neglected children. 

 Hattie is survived by her husband Bebe Lewis; children Patrick (Penny) Lewis and Gloria (Chad) Ballenger. Grandchildren: Vanessa Lewis, Patricia Lewis, Jada Lewis, Isaiah Lewis, Jalyn Wilkerson, Payton Ballenger. She is also survived by her 4 remaining siblings: Maurice Smith, Jr, Dora Beatrice Barnes, Robert L (Cassandra) Smith, Reverend Charles E (Gloria) Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends. 

 Hattie was preceded in death by Maurice and Othella Smith, Maurine Smith Jinks, Alvin Smith, Phillip E Smith.
