FORT WORTH–James D. Bews passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the age of 86.
Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Brown Owens & Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 at the funeral home.
Interment: James will be laid to rest in Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.

James was born October 5, 1930 in Toronto, Canada to the late Gordon and Florence Bews. Jim was employed as a data processing manager by Tandy Corporation for many years, retiring in 1998. Part of that time, he worked overseas in places such as Australia, Taiwan, and Japan. He served as elder to the Zion Hill Community Church in Weatherford, TX for over 40 years. In his late 50’s Jim decided to return to school and earned his BAAS degree at Dallas Baptist University in 1991 at the age of 60. Over the years, Jim volunteered for several non-profit organizations, both locally and nationally. Among the ones he was most passionate about were: Camp Blessing, Guardianship Services, Inc (GSI), and the Central Meadowbrook Neighborhood Association. His favorite hobbies were downhill skiing, ice hockey, and working on jigsaw puzzles. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend and will remain in our hearts forever.
Survivors: Wife of 57 years, Sandra Bews; son, Gordon Bews; daughter, Becky McClean and husband, Kevin; daughter, Melissa Cannon and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Jared, Laura, Trent and Nate Cannon and Alyssa & Matthew McClean; sister, Joy Panella and husband, John; brother-in-law, Robert Muszynski and wife, Luisa; numerous nieces and nephews; and a dear friend whom he considered as a brother, Jim Tucker.
