HALTOM CITY — James F. Stanford, 80, passed away surrounded by his family Saturday, June 13, 2015.
Celebration of life: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Brown, Owens & Brumley Family Funeral Home. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
James was born to the late Joseph and Ethel Stanford in Chattanooga, Okla., on Nov. 15, 1934; he was also preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Stanford, and sister, Martha Johnson. He retired after 29 years of service at Bates Containers and following his retirement he worked at the Fort Worth Stock Show. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and will be remembered for his love of his family, Texas Rangers baseball and sports, and often bragged about his fishing experiences. James will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Survivors: Wife of 57 years, Willie Mae Stanford; son, James Brent Stanford; daughter, Tonicia Stanford-Fields and husband, Kyle; sisters, Mae Scribner, Lavada Johnson and Barbara Hill; grandson, Chris Stanford; granddaughter, Sara Stanford; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.
