EULESS-James Russell Gammill, 71, passed away December 6, 2019.

Interment: 3 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2020 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211
He was a longtime resident of Euless, Texas, and a 1967 graduate of L.D. Bell High School. He attended Tarrant County College and then Dallas Baptist University, where he surrendered to the ministry and became an ordained pastor. He decided to leave DBU to pursue a career in law enforcement. Shortly after he was drafted into the U.S. Army. After serving in Korea, he returned to Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, and was honorably discharged. He then enrolled in the Dallas Police Academy, leaving in 1979 to become Chief of Police for the Justin Police Department. He would later return to the Dallas Police Department where he retired after 29½ years of service. James was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Euless. He spent his retirement years working part time for Kerry McCombs State Farm Agency, sharing his experiences and stories as a police officer and participating in church activities. He loved his family and was a proud grandfather.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Shirley Millican, and his niece, Kim Chase.
Survivors: He is survived by his sisters, Carolyn Chase (Lt. Col. Gary Chase) and Sherry Davis; his daughter, Kristy Parker (Eric Gibbs); and son, James R. Gammill Jr.; grandchildren, Aubrey Parker (Ryan Brammer) and Abbey Parker; niece, Nicole Lindholm (Gary Lindholm); great nephews, Christian Lindholm and Korbin Chase; and countless friends.
