James Elmer Spindor, an avid hunter and sportsman, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 9, 2025. He was born on October 23, 1957, in Fort Worth, Texas and grew up in Saginaw. His parents, Joyce and Elmer Spindor, raised their family with strong values and a sense of community. He worked at his father's service station, as well as helping with farming/ranching chores throughout his childhood and teen years. James developed a strong work ethic and a love for the outdoors. He attended Saginaw Elementary, Wayside Middle School and graduated from Boswell High School.
James was involved in 4-H from the age of 10 until age 18. In the club, he raised show calves and participated in record books, public speaking, and rifle team with two of his brothers, winning the state championship two years in a row. In school, he participated in FFA and the choir. While at Boswell, he met his high school sweetheart, Sherri Edwards. James and Sherri married on July 1, 1977. They welcomed two sons, James Cle (J.C.) in 1983, and Jared Daniel in 1985. While he was a stern parent, he was exceptionally proud of both of his boys.
James was a dedicated hunter and fisherman. He and Sherri enjoyed hunting together at their farm in Crowell, Texas. Some of his happiest times were spent sitting on a tractor and working around his farm.
James had a long and varied work life, including Williamson-Dickie, General Dynamics (Lockheed Martin), and Ozarka Water. He retired in August 2024 from Fittings, Incorporated, and was looking forward to enjoying his retirement.
A celebration of James' life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Taco Casa located at 560 S. Saginaw Boulevard in Saginaw, Texas, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your favorite charity.
