KELLER — James A. York, 84, of Keller, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at home with his family by his side.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, in the Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel at Brown, Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Jim was born July 28, 1928, in Kentucky to Jesse and Clyde. He met his bride, Rita Janet Haas, in Los Angeles, Calif., and married in 1950. Jim was a Korean War veteran and Carnegie Medal recipient. He had successful careers as a railroad electrician and service station owner in Southern California, retiring to Texas in 1997.
Jim loved traveling with family, spending time outdoors and in his yard, and walking with his dog, Molly. An avid fisherman, his favorite destination spots were the Colorado River and the local Texas lakes and streams.
Jim gave selflessly of himself and cherished his family. He will be remembered for his loving, gracious spirit and charismatic personality.
To all who knew and loved him he will be dearly missed.
Survivors: His loving family members, wife of 65 years, Janet; daughters, Michelle, Rita, Yvonne and Melinda; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and in-laws.
