BURLESON-Janet Kay Smith Henderson passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the age of 80.

Janet was born February 9, 1940 to the late Chester Glen and Delphine (Brockway)Smith in Owosso, Michigan. Janet received her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1963 from Mott Community College. She then received her Bachelors Degree in Nursing in 1979 from the University of Detroit. Janet went on to receive her Masters Degree in Instructional Technology in 1982 from Wayne State University. She was a Girl Scout Troup leader and Camp Timbers nurse. She was a member of AAMA-American Association of Medical Assistants and was surveyor of programs and Chairman of Curriculum Review Board. She was a Registered Nurse, State of Michigan; Certified Medical Assistant with Clinical Specialty and also a Certified Herbalist. Janet received the Golden Apple Award in 1995 for Excellence in Teaching for the AAMA.
Janet loved traveling the globe, playing with the grandchildren, shopping, a dip in the pool, frozen margaritas, a little two step and staying in contact with all her friends.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 45 years, Bruce Philip Henderson.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Julie Ann Clifford (Henderson); son, Andrew Glen Henderson; sister, Jean Sokol (Smith); grandchildren, Timothy, Abigail, Sarah and Phillip.
