Judith Verlene Ligier

Judith Verlene Ligier, 87, of Fort Worth passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 17, 2024 and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

Judith is survived by Laura Nelson - daughter, of Granbury, TX and her husband Howard, Leslee Ligier - son, of Edmonds, WA, and his wife Rachelle, Larry Ligier - son, retired Navy, of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by four wonderful grandchildren, whom she adored, Brenden Edward and Ryan Christopher Nelson and wife, Dienes, Levi Lane and Avonlea Peace Ligier.

Judith is preceded in death by her father and mother, Julian Verne Hixon and Orma Velda (Anthony), her brother Julian "Skip" Verne Hixon, her sister,  June Vernelda  (Toner), her brother VIctor Jay Hixon, and a host of cousins, aunts and uncles. She was a lifetime member of Order of Eastern Star with her last membership being in the Lake Worth Lodge. She served as a District Deputy in Indiana (over #2) as well as Worthy Matron in the Vincennes, Indiana chapter of OES. She was active in Amaranth as well, serving in a number of stations. Most importantly, she served her Lord and Savior as long as she possibly could, asking Him everyday to show her how to serve Him, be it through the church or outside the church. She demonstrated the love of Christ through going on several mission trips to Saltillo Mexico, community volunteer work, sewing baby blankets for new parents or hankies for ladies, calling to check in on people, writing cards of encouragement to others, serving in the prayer ministry, or providing meals for those in need through a Christian food ministry. She had a heart of selfless love for everyone she met, giving out her big smiles and hugs generously to anyone she saw. She was even known to give away something that someone complimented her on, such as jewelry or a scarf!

The Celebration of life for Judith Ligier will be announced at a later date to be held at Eagles View Church in Fort Worth with Pastor Bart Howell presiding and a member of Order of Eastern Star. She will be cremated per her wishes. There will be no burial or visitation.
