Kandice Marie Schaefer, 30, of Alvarado, Texas, born September 15, 1992 in Saint Louis, Missouri passed away on May 29, 2023 at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in the Supportive and Palliative Care Unit in Fort Worth, Texas after a life-long battle with Cystic Fibrosis

Kandice was a strong and determined young woman, who never gave up hope. She faced her illness with courage and grace, and she never let it define her. She was an advocate for Cystic Fibrosis awareness, posting videos on multiple social media platforms. She fought for the search for a cure, not just for herself but more importantly to her, for others through Fund Raising efforts of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She was a true inspirations to everyone who knew her. She loved and cared with her whole heart and she made the world a brighter place. During her many stays in the hospital, she would draw pictures and post them on her door for the staff and patients as her way to bring a smile to the face of others and those pictures continue to bring joy to the people she gave them to. Her drawings were her way of showing her love and caring for others. She had a contagious smile that could brighten anyone's day. Kandice was a light in the world and will be deeply missed by her family and friends and will never be forgotten. Breathe easy sweet girl!
Kandice had been involved with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Volunteer Hunter Education Instructor program. At age 15, after several years of helping her dad with classes, she became an Assistant Instructor and continuing into her adult years and at age 21 graduating to Instructor status.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Mary, nee Kullenberg, Schaefer and Walter and Celia, nee Lafferty, Hahs; uncles, Jesse Simpson and Chip (Walter) Hahs, and a cousin Joshua Hahs.
Kandice is survived by her parents, James and Ruby, nee Hahs, Schaefer: her siblings, Theresa Sandheinrich, a bonus brother Doug (Carmin) Humphries, Kimberly (Jason) Stambaugh, Natalie (Tim) Schaefer, Kristopher Schaefer, Krystal (Josh) Schaefer, Kathryn (Jimmy) Lawson, Felicity (Matthew) Raley; nephews & nieces, Dominick Stambaugh, Maggie (Evan) Stambaugh, Andrew Stambaugh and Rusty Gaston and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at a later date, to be announced when plans are finalized.
