Kolden Grant Dawson (Schmitz)

Kolden Grant Dawson (Schmitz) was born to Kevin Schmitz and Kimberly Dawson on November 25, 1988 at 6:02 am in Oakes, ND. He made a grand entrance, much like the personality we would grow to know and love. Kolden grew up between Oakes, ND and Wellington, FL, where he became THE big brother to Kane, Olivia, and Tristan. He loved his brothers and baby sister, oh so very much.
Kolden encountered many mountains in his lifetime. Although he conquered many, he stumbled over a few as well. Daunting as it was, he reached the summit of his biggest mountain yet when he graduated from Tarrant County School of Nursing in May of 2018 with honors. Anyone who knew Kolden, or his story, knew what an honor it truly was.
As Kolden was saving others’ lives and building his own, he eyed yet another mountain, and so he climbed. This time, he was truly on top of the world when he married the love of his life, Tiffany Corcoran, making her Mrs. Dawson on 2-2-2020 in Whitefish, Montana. A name they both loved and cherished.
They made their home in Fort Worth, Texas but their love for travel kept them jaunting all around the US of A and beyond. Kolden was a magnificent storyteller, so whether he was talking about his travels— or about what he had to eat last night—we always felt we were right there with him. We will cherish and hold on to these memories as we tread these rough waters without him.
Sadly, addiction was part of Kolden’s life. Although he lived on top of the world for nine years in recovery, this is where his earthly story ends. Relapse. He died on September 20, 2022.
He touched many lives and will be missed intensely. He is survived by his wife, Tiffany Dawson, parents, Kimberly and Eric Ziglinski, and Kevin and Mari Schmitz, his siblings, Kane, Livi, and Tristan, and grandparents, Terry and Sandy Dawson, Grant Schmitz, and Mary Patricia Ziglinski. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and the best of friends.
A Memorial will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 3:00 to 5:00pm at Brown, Owens, and Brumley Family Funeral Home located at 425 S. Henderson Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76104.
In addition, a Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 10:30am at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, located at 100 SW Alsbury Blvd., Burleson, Texas 76028, followed by a church luncheon.
For his dearly loved North Dakota family and friends, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 2pm, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cogswell, ND. Kolden loved his North Dakota roots and will buried there at a date yet to be determined.
God, Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot Change, Courage to Change the things I can; and Wisdom to know the Difference.
