On March 16th, 2025, Lana Kay Baxter, 76, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 24th at Walnut Creek Baptist Church, 220 W. Reno Rd. in Azle, Texas.
Lana was born on May 31st, 1948, in the West Texas town of Odessa. She was born to a WWII veteran, Edgar Baxter and hairdresser, Gladys Baxter. Lana was the oldest of three children in the family. While her family lived in Kermit, Texas, Lana accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and was baptized at Kermit Baptist Church when she was ten years old. After moving to Lake Worth at 15, she attended Lake Worth High School until 1967. In later years, as a single mother of three, she moved to California for Nursing School and became a LVN-Nurse. During her nursing career, she traveled to Mexico with Doctors Without Borders where she assisted with medical care and ministered to many people. She enjoyed her time as a humanitarian and felt a calling to share Christ with others. She ministered to the homeless and later organized a Biker Ministry in Benbrook. Lana never met a stranger, had a happy-go-lucky soul and a smile that lit up the room. She was a prayer warrior, generous beyond comprehension and shared Christ at every opportunity. Lana was an excellent seamstress for many years and loved to sew. She loved movies, fishing and watching Professional Bull Riding. Lana's favorite thing to do was anything that involved her grandchildren, as they were her pride and joy.
Lana is preceded in death by two babies, Paul and Shelley; parents, Edgar and Gladys Baxter; nephew, David Baxter and sister, Cheryl Baxter.
Lana is survived by her daughter, Sonja Lockwood and husband, Robert; her son, Torrey Denoo and wife, Jennifer; brother, Harold Baxter and wife, Alana; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, cousins and lots of beloved friends.
