A graduate of Goddard High School’s class of 1969, Lorraine attended community college in her hometown of Roswell, New Mexico before starting a professional career as a legal secretary for the largest law firm in Midland, TX. Known for her strong work ethic throughout her career, she received many merit-based promotions during her time with FDIC before moving to the Fort Worth area where she continued to show her commitment to being the best at what she did in managing her household.
Soft spoken and wise; selfless and always composed, she accepted everyone, lending a listening ear and giving positive advice to help anyone that would listen. You always felt at peace in her company. Her husband would say her eyes “danced” as if they were celebrating and that they were a reflection of her beauty and that of a beautiful soul.
Lorraine was a devoted Christian, dedicated to living her life according to her faith in God. Alongside her husband of 43 years, She was actively involved in ministering her faith wherever she went and was a shining example of that faith to everyone involved in her life. She loved children and wouldn’t hesitate to volunteer her time to babysit for friends or for family. Lunch dates and outings with her grandkids would be the highlight of her day.
Never turning down an opportunity to make or buy something sweet, she loved candies and desserts and was a certified sweet-tooth. She loved singing, collecting hand-crafted jewelry, working crossword puzzles, and had an admiration for new and older model cars (She often told stories about how much she loved her Volkswagen Beetle as a young adult that was painted in her favorite color―yellow).
Lorraine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is loved by family and friends and will be truly missed. Her legacy will live on through her family and through the lives she touched.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, Charles L. and Lola M. Washington; Charles Washington, John Washington and Mary Ann Washington.
