Lou was born Monday, June 15, 1925 to the late Oscar Judd and Anna Smith in Kosse, Texas. Lou will be remembered for her classy style of dressing. She was an avid J C Penney catalog shopper and shopping the J C Penney catalog was her specialty. There was never a time that “Big Mama” (what we all called her) didn’t have a delicious meal or a tasty dessert. She enjoyed baking pastries, especially her famous teacake cookies. Sewing was a skill that she used to bless her family and friends and she used her talent for extra income. We loved going over to visit and just sit down and share our lives with each other.
Lou truly cared for her children and grandchildren. She was also a care giver to the elderly and she always did her job as unto her Lord with love. Her heart was bigger than she was. She would give you her last meal, that is how much she cared for people. She taught us in her day to day living to show love, care for one another and help our fellow man. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed by us all.
Lou is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Judd and Anna Smith; husband, Tommy Dedrick Sr. who served in the USMC; son, Jerry L. Dedrick; son, Charles E. Polk; and son, Ben Ross Polk.
Survivors: Son, Willie J. Polk and wife, Cheryl; son, Tommy Dedrick Jr. and wife, Lorraine; daughter, Yvonne C. Redic; son, Gerald G. Dedrick; daughter, Wanda J. McGraw; and grandchildren.
