Marilyn Terry Catterton

BENBROOK-Marilyn Terry Catterton passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at home with her family in Benbrook, Texas.
SERVICE: With respect to Marilyn’s wishes, her family will not be holding a public service. Instead, Marilyn’s family will do their best to honor her everyday by being kind to others and by finding beauty in the simple and the ordinary.
Marilyn was born on February 24, 1949, in Dallas, Texas to parents Thomas and Marceline Terry. As a child, Marilyn was fiercely independent and determined. This determination forged Marilyn to leave her parent’s home at an early age, marry and divorce her childhood love (who remained a dear friend for life) and raise their two children.
As a young, single mother, Marilyn worked her way through nursing school and graduated with a Registered Nursing degree. She began her nursing career at Fort Worth Children’s Hospital in the early 1980s. Most of Marilyn’s career, however, was spent at John Peter Smith Hospital where she made many friends and cared for her patients with kindness and respect.
Marilyn loved the mountains, green chiles, and kind friends. She enjoyed all these things in a beautiful valley in Vadito, New Mexico. She lived and worked there for a while before returning to Texas to be close to her children and grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Marilyn remained independent, determined, hardheaded to a fault but capable of loving others with the strength that could move mountains.
The family would also like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Karen Burroughs, the staff at Glen Rose Nursing and Rehabilitation and Alpha Omega Hospice for their patience, love and care.
SURVIVORS: Marilyn is survived by her son, Bryan; daughter, Britton, and her husband Greg Peavy; grandson, Sam; granddaughter, Alex, all of Fort Worth; sister, Linda Jacobs (Dallas); niece, Micah Crissy (Dallas); nephew, Adam Jacobs, and his wife Sophia (Salt Lake City).
