Mary Frances Downing

WATAUGA-Mary Frances Downing left her earthly flesh dancing in the arms of the Lord on May 25, 2021 at the age of 75. “The pain that you’ve been feeling, can’t compare to the Joy that’s coming. Romans 8:18.” She peacefully passed at her home holding the hand of her love since she was 13 years old and husband of 56 years and her 2 sisters surrounding her with love. Mary was born January 9, 1946 in Versailles, France to the late Bruce Benjamin Walthall and Marie-Louise Angèle Neuenschwander, and was the eldest of 7 siblings. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family.

Mary enjoyed going to church, having cook-outs with her family, dancing as a teenager & anything that had to do with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed volunteering at her daughter in law’s school

She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, doting Ma Mere’ (grandmother) & great Ma Mere’, wonderful sister, aunt, mother in love (law) and friend.

She is tremendously loved, missed and survived by her husband, Daniel (Danny) W. Downing, Sr.; son, Daniel (Danny) W. Downing, Jr. and wife, Leslie; son, Chad W. Downing and wife, Khris; daughter, Kimberly (Kim) R. Downing Redinger and husband, Brandon; son, Guy D. Downing and wife, Heather; granddaughter, Erin Nicole; grandson, Timothy L. Downing and wife, Hannah; grandson, Colt W. Trotter and wife, Alana; granddaughter, Sarah I. Downing Porter and husband, Jason; granddaughter, Brooke R. Redinger and significant other, Clayton Storm; grandson, Dalton L. Downing; granddaughter, Aubrey S. Downing; grandson, Gabriel (Gabe) M. Downing; granddaughter, Isabella R.
