Nick Allen Danelski was born in Bonner Springs, Kansas on January 6, 1958. Nick passed away on December 8, 2024, surrounded by his favorite people. He is survived by his devoted wife, Tammy; his sons Trent (and daughter-in-law Allie) and Barrett (and daughter-in-law Liz); his cherished grandchildren, Jace, Adeline, and Briar; his mother, Carol and his brother Scott (and sister-in-law Deborah), his sister, Ann, and many nieces and nephews. Nick was preceded in death by his son Thomas, his father, Jim, and his brother, Rick.
Nick's love for food was evident in every season of his life. The early days of his career consisted of making wedding cakes and ice sculptures. He then went on to run kitchens in hotels and healthcare facilities before working for Coca-Cola and Winn Dixie. Ultimately, he and Tammy wanted to be their own bosses, so they did just that and opened the Nicky D's more than twenty years ago. Their restaurant became a beloved gathering place for many. Nick's dedication to making good food and his warm hospitality left a lasting impact on everyone who walked through the doors.
Nick was a passionate car enthusiast. His ideal day was spent road-tripping with his boys to pick up a new project car, and nothing compared to the finished product after countless hours of wrenching in the shop. He was always working on something, whether it was a classic car restoration or a new burger to throw on the menu. His love for his hobbies was matched only by his unwavering commitment to his family. Earlier this year, Nick and Tammy celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, a milestone that stands as a testament to their enduring love and the beautiful life they built together.
Nick will be remembered for his sense of humor. His infectious laughter and lighthearted approach to life brought joy to everyone around him. He had a unique ability to make people laugh and feel at ease, no matter the situation. Nick's legacy will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
At this time, no arrangements have been made. Details of the celebration of life will be shared with friends and family at a later date.
