FORT WORTH — Dick Laswell passed away peacefully Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the age of 82.
Graveside service: 1 p.m. Thursday in Azleland Cemetery & Memorial Park.
Visitation: There will be no visitation
Memorials: In lieu or flowers, please make a donation to your charity of choice or a donation to Texas Christian University for student athletic scholarships.
Richard was born October 23, 1932 in Fort Worth to the late Wayne A. and Harriet P. Laswell and was raised in Big Spring. He graduated from Texas Christian University and was a member of the football team and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He was named Honorable Mention All American in 1954 and played in the 1956 Cotton Bowl Classic. He married Lunell Cain in Lubbock in 1962. Dick worked in marketing for Cosden/Fina Petroleum, taught school in Borger and was a home builder as well. He returned to Fort Worth as an “entrepreneur.” He was a devoted family man and had great pride and joy in his sons, Ed and Bruce. However, the absolute delight of his life was his two grandsons, Gage and Matthew.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert B. Laswell; sisters, Barbara Gage and Marjorie Graves.
Survivors: Wife, Lu Laswell; son, Ed Laswell and wife, Leslie; son, Thomas Bruce Laswell; grandsons, Gage and Matthew Laswell; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Cain and wife, Mary and Larry Cain and wife Beth; six nieces and nephews and a bunch of great nieces and nephews.
