Shirley Vivian “Chance” Horton

ARLINGTON-Shirley Vivian “Chance” Horton, 80, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Brown Owens & Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel, Pastor Kim Higdon and Louis Horton officiating.
VISITATION: 5 to7 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the funeral home.
INTERMENT: Shirley will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
Shirley was born Wednesday, November 6, 1940 to the late John Ollie Chance and May Lorraine Brooks in Fort Worth, Texas. Shirley married James Horton on May 15, 1956. She attended Castleberry ISD. She worked many jobs but retired from working as a Daycare Director.
The Horton family would like to give a special thanks to Community Healthcare of Texas for caring for Shirley in her final day.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Horton; son, Gerald Horton; and sister, Judy Minton.
SURVIVORS: Son, Johnny Horton; daughter, Debora Griggs and husband, John; daughter, Michelle Smart; grandchildren, Brad Griggs, Sean Griggs, Tricia Mahar, Chris Mahar, Tyler Smart, and Katelyn Underwood; sister, Estelle Whistler and husband, Fred; sister, Leta Roberts; great granddaughters, Emirley Mahar, Lilah Mahar and Naomi Smart; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family.
