ARLINGTON — Taylor Helland, 19, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, Feb. 20, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family.
Celebration of life: 7 p.m. Friday at First Methodist Mansfield, 777 N. Walnut Creek Drive, Mansfield, 76063. Interment: Taylor was laid to rest in Emerald Hills Memorial Park.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to one of the following pediatric cancer charities: The Andrew McDonough Be Positive Foundation, the Fabulous Faith Foundation, or the Michael P. Brown Colon Cancer Foundation.
She graduated in 2014 from Martin High School in Arlington. Until recently, she was a sophomore strategic communications major at TCU, a member of Chi-Omega Fraternity and a leader of the TCU Dance Marathon, a program designed to raise funds for Cook Children’s Medical Center.
Taylor will best be known for her mantra “Choose Joy!” as she won her battle with cancer by choosing joy every day. She was dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the fight against pediatric cancer, and was an active speaker at many fundraising events.
Survivors: Mother, Julia; father, Bob; sister, Shara; loving boyfriend, Chris Messer; and many supportive and loving relatives and friends.
