FORT WORTH-Wanda Lucille (Little) Carlisle, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2019.
Celebration of life: 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2019 at Brown Owens & Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the funeral home.
Interment: Wanda will be laid to rest at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Johnsville Cemetery.
Wanda was born in Iredell, TX and had been a long-time resident of Fort Worth. In 1944, she married “the best-looking man” she’d ever seen and remained married until his passing in 2002. Her daughter, Jimmie Dee, was truly her best friend. She enjoyed a career in sales with Avon, loved “pretty things” and keeping a yard full of beautiful flowers, and preferred spending time with family (especially her granddaughters) over anything else. She was an active member of Pleasantview Baptist Church (formerly Trentman Ave.) until her health kept her from attending. She spent the last several years of her life at Lakewood Village Assisted Living, where she was still making new friends and enjoying visits from her great-grandchildren. Despite experiencing a tremendous amount of loss during her lifetime, she had a spirit that didn’t quit. Her family will always be grateful for her unconditional love and embodiment of strength.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Abe and Minnie Little; husband, James Carlisle; daughter, Jimmie Dee Jones; and six beloved brothers and sisters.
Survivors: son-in-law, Jimmy Jones; granddaughter, Jamie Jones (Rico Nunez); granddaughter, Jennifer Lance (Michael); great-granchildren, Haley, Korbyn, Kinslee, Ryleigh, and Kasen.
