EULESS-Weldon Walker passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the age of 80.
Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Brown Owens & Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel.
Weldon was born to the late Carl and Geneva Walker on August 20, 1937 in Archer City, Texas. He graduated from Henrietta High School, Henrietta, Texas. He loved basketball so much that he earned a scholarship to Decatur Baptist College and Baylor University. Weldon’s intention was to be a basketball coach, but after experiencing driving a truck for his brother in law during the summer months, his coaching career turned into driving and having the opportunity to own his own truck. He fell in love with trucks and driving them, he bought his own and never finished his college degree. Weldon served two and half years in the US Army. He loved working long hours and saving money for his family. He drove for 58 years. Each of his kids, grandkids and great grandkids got to take a ride. Weldon loved country music and he and his wife enjoyed weekends dancing and playing shuffle board.
Weldon is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Geneva Walker; sister, Murlene Mowery; brothers, Wayne Walker and Dwight Walker.
Survivors: Wife, Jeri Walker; daughter, Jeri Dee Burnett and husband, Paul; son, Stanley Walker and wife, Donna; granddaughter, Alysha Walker; granddaughter, Brooke Hinojosa and husband, Ryan; granddaughter, Kayli Burnett; grandson, Brayden Burnett and wife, Ashley; granddaughter, Makenzie Bonham and husband, Kris; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Lavern Moore; sister, Melba Vincent; and brother, Doug Walker.
