William “Bill” John Patrick

FORT WORTH — William “Bill” John Patrick passed away Friday, Sept. 2, 2016 at the age of 75.
Memorial service: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 at the State Coach Ballroom, 2516 E. Belknap, Fort Worth. If you would like to bring a card for his family, it would be greatly appreciated. His family has felt so lost and helpless during Bill’s time of illness and they live so far away they couldn’t be here. The cards will be forwarded to his family in New York.
Interment: Bill will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Bill was born in Warsaw, Wyoming County, New York to William and Rheta Patrick. He had two brothers and one sister. Bill never had children of his own but he and his wife did adopt two young girls who were sisters.
Bill was raised on a dairy farm in upstate New York where he grew to love animals. He had pets of all kinds on the farm ranging from tame to not so tame. He had a horse he just adored that was named Flicka after the famous TV show back in the 50’s. He would ride bareback through the pastures and down the roads to see all of his cousins, aunts and uncles. He even had a skunk that was de-natured and a pet monkey. His last dog was one he talked about all the time. Bill was always ready to tell you about what “puppy” had destroyed this week. He had a team of ponies that he just loved. He would regularly hitch them up to a wagon and take off around the countryside.
Bill had quite a sense of humor as he loved telling stories and always joking with everyone. He always would greet all the ladies he danced with at the Stage Coach Ballroom in Fort Worth with a “Do I know you?” and of course, all the ladies would respond with “Do you want to know me?”
Bill proudly served the military when he joined the US Marine Corp right at the end of high school. He did serve overseas, but did not serve during a war. When he returned home he took on various jobs around the county. He worked at a Boys Home for the State of New York as well as for the Perry School district.
When his brother, Charlie, moved to Fort Worth with a new job offer, he asked Bill to join him which he did. Bill went to work for the Fort Worth ISD where he did retiree from.
Bill’s hobbies included but not limited to dancing as many times a week as he could at the Stage Coach Ballroom. They play country western music which included dancing to two step, waltz and three step music.
Survivors: Bill is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
