Wynn Lauten Howard

Wynn L. Howard, 84, formerly of Des Plaines, IL passed away on August 28, 2023, in Weatherford, TX.

Wynn Lauten Howard was born on September 13, 1938 in Oak Park, IL, to Wynn C.M. and Maryalice Howard. He grew up in Des Plaines, IL with his parents and two sisters, Connie and Leslie.

Wynn graduated from Maine East High School in Park Ridge, IL in 1956. He started his career with his father at Stanadyne, Inc. in Bellwood, IL and worked there over 30 years until the business closed. He moved on to work independently with his friend Lenny Ehrhardt before retiring and moving to Texas.

Wynn married Pamela J. Hansen on July 15, 1961 in Des Plaines, IL, and later divorced. The couple had two children, Sonja and Karl. 

Wynn was best known for his love of motorcycles and cars and all things mechanical, while teaching many others the skills he acquired. He had a fondness for animals and cared for many pet birds and dogs throughout his life. He and his father shared season's tickets to the Chicago Bears in the 1960's, and he was a devoted fan of NASCAR racing. He traveled to Alaska often, made many new friends, and enjoyed fishing for salmon and halibut while there.

Wynn is survived by his children Sonja Sporleder and her husband Steven of Hampshire, IL and Karl Howard and his wife Connie of Weatherford, TX; his grandchildren Hailey Howard, Matthew Sporleder, Michael Sporleder and Matt Rodriguez; his sister Connie Rintz of Arlington Heights, IL; and many nieces and nephews and friends. 

Wynn was preceded in death by his parents Wynn and Maryalice Howard, and his sister Leslie Townes.

Services will be determined at a later date.
