Polly Garner, 71, of Fort Worth Texas went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, June 29, 2022 surrounded by her family and following her sister, Sue Mulkey just hours before her.
Visitation: Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Owens & Brumley Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Celebration of Life: will be celebrated with her sister at her side on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.
Polly was born on December 23, 1950 to the late Clarence and Mary Nichols in Matador, Texas. She met the love of her life, Richard Garner and they shared over 20 years of marriage and her daughters were the center of her world.
Polly cherished her family and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they brought so much joy to her. She especially treasured her surprise visits at the bingo hall when her twin grandsons (Tripp & Jett) would pop in to give her big hugs. She was a dedicated and devoted employee and manager of the American Legion Post 516 for 50 years and Watauga Road Bingo for 30 years. She was also a Lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 516. She had many friends that were like her second family at Watauga Bingo. She enjoyed going to the casino and playing the machines with her family and her sister Sue. She especially loved all the times her daughters, grandkids and great-grandkids would get together. Polly and her sister Sue would enjoy working in the flower gardens together and loved to nurture the flowers. The 2 sisters were referred to as “Thelma & Louise” and you never knew what scheme was up their sleeve or what they had planned. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends but the peace that the family has brings incredible comfort as they know Polly and her sister Sue are dancing literally on streets of gold. They both shared a love as sisters deeper than life and knew they would enter Heaven together.
Polly is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 20 years, Richard Garner; 4 sisters and 6 brothers.
Survivors: daughters, Angie Kirkpatrick and husband Thomas; Shelley Sanders and Jacqueline Taft; stepson, Andy Garner: grandchildren, Hailey Jaime and husband Jesse; Kristal Sanders and Roy Sanders; Trey Mulkey and wife Samantha; Loretta Cobb and husband Kyle; and Tiffany Allen and husband Jeremy; several great-grands; faithful companion “Little Prince” and a multitude of friends.
Although we will miss Polly, we find great comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain. Upon entering the Gates of Heaven, she was reunited with her partner in crime, her sister Sue. One thing for sure, Polly and Sue “DID IT THEIR WAY”!
