Stephanie McWhorter Brown (née Putthoff), 43, passed on June 22, 2022, in Dallas, Texas while under hospice care.
She will be dearly missed as a wife, mother, daughter, and sister. She leaves her husband, Brad Brown, daughter Marissa Dean McWhorter and twin stepchildren Tommy and Julie. She is survived by Dr. Stephen Putthoff, father, Pati Adkins, mother, Laura Gibson, sister, Jaden Fabiani, nephew, and multiple uncles, aunts and cousins.
Stephanie was kind to all who knew her. She made friends wherever she went. Her intelligence and abilities were clear as she obtained her RN license and served her patients as an ICU nurse. She was proud of that achievement, but the center of her life was her daughter, Marissa – a brilliant student and talented athlete especially in competitive swimming.
In her last years, she found a deep and fulfilling connection with her husband Brad. They married in 2020. One short year later she was diagnosed with the breast cancer that ultimately claimed her life. Brad supported her during her treatment, drove countless hours with her to appointments and cared for her in the final difficult months with unwavering love and devotion.
Please join her family in prayer. May she rest in peace.
A memorial service will be held in Stephanie’s honor at 2pm, July 16th at Dallas Bible church 15765 Hillcrest Rd., Dallas, Tx 75248
In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made in her memory to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 13770 Noel Rd., unit 801889: Dallas, TX 75380.

I met Stephanie in 1996 in Musical Theater (NEPCO) at TCC, and we performed in several shows together. As a result, we spent a lot of time together in rehearsals and socialising after shows. Stephanie was a delight to know; she was very friendly and approachable with a warm personality; a friend to everyone she knew.
Years later, I had the pleasure of re-connecting with her in 2013-14. She was just as warm and friendly as I remembered, and I also enjoyed meeting Marissa and seeing the love and devotion Stephanie had for her. Stephanie was a rare soul who was a friend to all from the first meeting; a loving mother and a kind heart. I’m grateful to have known her and to call her a friend. I hope Marissa and Stephanie’s family can find comfort in cherished memories, and the knowledge that her love for them is eternal.

Stephanie was my friend in high school and college. We both enjoyed theatre and did many shows together. We laughed a lot, talked about boys, and I can still hear her chuckle. I saw Stephanie last, 10 years ago. We met for lunch and I saw her only a handful more times after that. I have quite a few memories of her in high school, as we would hang out during the summer and after rehearsals. We had a lot of the same friends. She was easy to be around and fun!
Marissa, I met you 10 years ago. Your mother was so proud of you and I could see her love for you in her eyes….and the way she talked about you.
To the family, I am So sorry for your loss. I am still in shock. I have Many fond memories of Stephanie and the family. I’ll be praying for you all. May the Lord comfort you during this time and give you peace.
