Thomas Arthur Johnston, age 76, went home to be with Jesus on July 9, 2022.
Thomas Arthur was born on March 5, 1946, in Belle Fourche, South Dakota to Thomas Franklin Johnston and Ione McKnight Johnston. Thomas Arthur married Virginia Garner Stewart Johnston of Spiro, Oklahoma on June 1, 1991 in Euless, Texas.
He graduated from Fergus High School in Lewistown, Montana, in 1964. He attended Northwest College in Seattle, Washington during which time he married Elaine Eoff and they had three children together. He graduated from Charis Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 2000.
Tom has always had a love for people and sharing God’s love through music with everyone he met. At twelve years old, he began working summers on a ranch. This gave him a love for horses. He went on to ride bareback in the rodeo until an injury made that no longer possible. He had a love for photography, nature, hunting, and fishing, and the beauty of God’s creation. He loved his family and friends. He will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ione, and by his son, Taumie Beau (“Beaudie”) Roger Johnston (1973).
He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; his children, Thome Ladd Vendil Johnston and Honi Jeen Elaine Johnston Deaton and husband, Jeff, of Caldwell, Idaho; his stepchildren, Timothy Kevin Stewart and wife, Kathy, of Lewisville, Texas, Jeffery Ray Stewart of Garland, Texas, and Melissa Dawn Stewart Coco and husband, Douglas, of Fort Worth, Texas; his wonderful grandchildren: Stephanie Dalton and husband, Chris, Marley Reddell and husband, Toby, Chase Deaton, Libby Lanham and husband, Jake, Ethan Coco, Aubrey Johnston, Cara Coco, Beau Deaton, Mikayla Coco, and Finn Deaton; and four precious great grandkids: Hunter Dalton, Serenity Dalton, Evalyn Dalton, and Augie Reddell; and his beloved sister, Anita Larson and husband, Dick, of Montana. He will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, and wonderful extended family who love him very much.
Services for Thomas Arthur Johnston will be held on Saturday, July 30, at 1 pm at Bethesda Community Church of Haltom City, Texas.
His final resting place will be in Lewistown, Montana. There will be a separate memorial service for family and friends in Montana at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either of these two charities that were dear to Tom’s heart: Bethesda Community Church Benevolence Fund at (817) 281-6350 or Boise Love Inc at Boiseloveinc.org

So sorry to hear this. Tom was such a straight arrow. I didn’t get to know him as well as I would have liked, but I knew his integrity and his love. His spirit was so robust that he communicated that without saying a word.

Sorry to hear of these circumstances, but we will see Tommy again in heaven, thank the Lord. I pray for your strength to get through the grief and comfort each other with the love of God. I hope I can make it to one of these services. If I can’t, just know that I love you all.. Anita and Virginia. Honi and Laddie, you are on my mind.

Tom was the person who got me into the furniture business in 1982. He and his family showed me nothing but love and support back when I was first coming to know the Lord. I wish we had stayed closer through the years, he was a special man and I know we will see one anoy again in heaven. My prayers are for you his family during this time, that you will be comforted by The Holy Spirit and that you will always remember the good times you enjoyed together.
